Continuing My Education

July will be busy – busier than I had anticipated.  In the months leading up to “summer holidays”, I envisioned a summer full of reading, blogging, spending time with my family and lots of soaking up the sun.  Since then, I also decided to take a course.

I am taking an on-line course in Special Education – to refine my knowledge of learners with exceptionalities.  The course officially begins tomorrow – oh boy, is there a lot of work!

Much of my reading this July will involve reading about education expectations, pedagogy, and all the different exceptionalities that students exhibit and require accomodations for.  This will be great for enhancing my ability as a teacher.

In the meantime, I aim to keep up with my summer reading and preparing for teaching new books in September.  Busy. Busy. Busy.  Why is it that when we hope to have more time to ourselves we manage to fill it up?

Throughout the summer I’ll blog about what I learn throughout the course in addition to my summer reads.  Hope to hear from you along the way!

How about you?  Are you learning/doing anything new this summer?

  1. That is so true — every time I have a break and things slow down, I manage to fill it up to the point where I’m begging for another break. What’s wrong with us?
